Oudejans, L., S. Serre, Michael Calfee, J. Wood, A. Mikelonis, Ronald Mickelsen, S. Taft, T. Boe, P. Lemieux, AND J. Archer. ANALYSIS FOR COASTAL OPERATIONAL RESILIENCY ANCOR. AnCOR Quarterly Meeting, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehur,NJ, September 24 - 25, 2019.

Impact/Purpose:

Bacillus anthracis, the causative agent of inhalation anthrax, is one of the most highly studied biological threat agents. Significant gaps remain related to the remediation of a wide area following such biological release. This extends to the remediation of critical assets owned and operated by federal partners. This presentation, as to be presented at the Quarterly Meeting, Sep 24-25, 2019, provides a status update to US Coast Guard (USCG) and Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology (DHS S&T) on the Analysis for Coastal Operational Resiliency (AnCOR) program, an interagency effort to assess and improve capabilities and strategic guidelines to prepare the U.S. for a wide-area release of a biological agent, including mitigating impacts to USCG facilities and assets.

Description:

This presentation will address capability gaps related to sampling, fate & transport, decontamination, data management, and waste management. Local and state responders can benefit from this research with new information and tools to ensure community resilience to a wide area biological release that threatens public health and welfare.Slides for the presentation will be at the AnCOR Quarterly Meeting, Sep 24-25, 2019, Sep 24-25, 2019, Fort Dix, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ
